Canadian Women in Ocean Industries Leadership Conference 2023

Canada's ocean industries generate $31.7 billion annually, contributing 1.6% to the country's gross domestic product. To build on these outcomes and promote economic recovery, a diverse and inclusive talent base is essential. McKinsey research indicates that advancing women's economic empowerment could add up to $150 billion to Canada's GDP by 2026. To enable innovation, research, and technology development, it's crucial to attract, develop, and retain a diverse talent pipeline, including women from all backgrounds. The Canadian Women in Ocean Industries Leadership initiative, action plan, and 2023 International Conference aim to increase women's leadership, competitiveness, and contribution to the industry. The initiative will foster a talent pipeline from equity-seeking groups, including the 2SLGBTQ+ community, Indigenous communities, persons with disabilities, and racialized people. OceansAdvance, the Core Team, and partners seek to create a work-action plan to promote greater participation in ocean industries.
